Before I was a snowbird, living in the USA for the summer half of the year and in Mexico for the winter half of the year, I always had cats. I wrote this in honor of one of my kitties. It was during a time when I was writing a lot of fiction, and I had grammar on my mind. So, just for fun, I penned this cute little poem.
Comma Between Clawses, (c) 2010 by Alane Brown
My kitty is a phrase who sleeps in fur pajamas
He curls in his nest in a shape like a comma
A comma is a breath in the space between two clauses
Like a nap, for a cat, it rests on its pawses
A comma is a pause as the thought turns anew
To paws and their claws and the damage they might do
A comma is a curve like a moon or a cheek
Or a kitty who is dreaming of the havoc he will wreak
